Ije McDougall is the Founder of The Kairos Initiative, a Magistrate and a HR/Employment Law Expert.

Her unique perspective and lived experiences as a immigrant woman mixed with her BBC training and HR background have provided much needed insight and engagement to her audiences.

Her talk on Racial Equality was featured on the Black Lives Matter Website.

With her unique storytelling technique, Ije has spoken to a wide array of audiences from schools and colleges to multinational corporate audiences. She has been featured on several international podcasts and publications. Her training as a BBC Radio Producer has served her well in that she has honed excellent communication skills and knows how to identify what her audiences need.

She has the unique perspective of someone who moved from a troubled part of Nigeria to the UK and set up a charity to help some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

While charting her way through life in the UK, she has faced questions of identity and self-realisation. She has battled self-doubt and imposter syndrome continuously and understands how limiting they can be.  Her HR background helps employers engaged with their workforce and gives employees avenues to express themselves effectively.

We are seldom provided the opportunity to examine our opinions of ourselves and others and where we have formed them from.

This talk is reflective and causes the audience to purposefully carve out an identity for themselves on an individual basis but also as a collective.

It asks the audience to Face themselves; Know themselves and then Grow themselves on purpose. The audience is encouraged to accept the odds against them – if any and make deliberate decisions about who they choose to be and how they choose to show up.

If they can get you to believe an absurdity, they can get you to commit an atrocity _Voltaire.

Over Millenia, atrocities have occurred because one person had an idea which was allowed to take root and establish. This talk takes a course through some harmful ideas of the past and the impact they have on us today. It also highlights some current ideas that are taking root and will cause significant harm if allowed to continue.

The talk forces the audiences to reflect on their personal opinions and assess where and how they have formed those opinions.

It is a Racial Equality talk that calls for allyship.

This is a talk about personal triumph after beating the odds.

Ije talks about her life as an immigrant in the UK and the odds she had to beat: Domestic violence, joblessness, poverty, racism etc

She talks about regaining control of her life and circumstances and climbing out of the mire and flipping the script.

In this talk, you will find inspiration, motivation, and a call to kindness.

What people say

I had the absolute privilege of welcoming Ije McDougall (CIPD) JP to HMP Wymott today and hearing her words of wisdom, insight and inspiration. Ije has the ability to expose truths we’d prefer to avoid, and skilfully challenges us to change our behaviour. She is an amazing person with a unique capacity for breaking through solid barriers. Thank you Ije and come to see us again soon.
