Lizzy Yarnold  Inspirational speaker

Lizzy Yarnold  Inspirational speaker and current Skeleton Olympic, World and European Champion.

Lizzy Yarnold cemented her place in sporting history after winning every major title in her sport of skeleton in just 407 days.  Lizzy won her first World Championship gold medal at the 2015 event in Winterberg, Germany (with two track records) to add to her Grand Slam collection of the Olympic and European titles and the overall World Cup title in the 2013/2014.

Lizzy is the second athlete ever and the first British slider to hold the Grand Slam titles at the same time: currently the World and European Champion, Lizzy won the Olympic Skeleton event at the Sochi Winter Olympics on 14th February 2014.  Lizzy won having led the field in every training run leading up to the Games and over the entire 4 race event – her winning margin of 0.97 seconds was the largest ever.

Lizzy Yarnold  has dominated the skeleton world for the last two seasons, posting an incredible 5 race wins this season and reaching the podium in 7 of the 8 World Cup races (including 4 golds) in the previous 2013/14 season.

Lizzy was picked to take part in skeleton after entering a talent ID programme called ‘Girls for Gold’ in 2008. She was physically and mentally tested and picked to take part in the sport.  Her rise to Olympic champion in just 5 years shows her focus and determination, her coaches commentating that her mental toughness is indeed unique.

Lizzy was awarded an MBE for Services to Sport in June 2014 and was runner up in the 2014 Sky & Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year awards and nominated for the 2014 BBC Sports Personality.

Twenty-Six year old Lizzy Yarnold grew up in West Kingsdown in Kent and currently lives in Bath where the British Skeleton Team train during the summer months in the UK.  A keen athlete as a child – Lizzy grew up on a farm and tried her hand at most sports including the heptathlon which she specialised in. A Geography & Sports Science graduate, Lizzy is passionate about environmental issues and encouraging healthy role models for young people, in particular, Lizzy feels very strongly that she wants to use her success on the track to help young girls feel better about their body shapes and to take up more sport and activity.  Since her Olympic win Lizzy has visited over 50 schools across the country spreading that message.  To switch off from the track Lizzy loves cooking, listening to music and the Archers – and knitting!

Using her experiences from the world of elite sport and having studied ‘Mental Toughness’ at University, Lizzy Yarnold  can deliver sessions that can resonate with all ages.

“Lizzy spoke at our peak season conference to an audience of 1000 retail store managers. Lizzy’s story was compelling and so relevant to anyone who has talent and potential, facing and overcoming all challenges with real intent and focus.

The response from the team was absolutely fantastic, and the subsequent feedback very gratifying. The large crowd genuinely warmed to her and the comments on our internal social platform after the event replayed again and again her key messages around holding on to your vision, resilience in the face of adversity, self-belief and controlling the controllables.

Landing these messages in such a natural way is only possible through true authenticity, which I believe Lizzy has in buckets.  I would recommend Lizzy without reserve and look forward to working with her again in the future.”

Steve Carson, Director of Retail & Customer Operations at Home Retail Group PLC.

Thank you so much to Lizzy Yarnold for supporting our welcome day for the 283 new graduates joining Jaguar Land Rover this year. Lizzy was a fantastic guest and speaker; engaging and genuine.

Lizzy was able to relate to the graduates in terms of her own experiences of joining a team as a young talented person and her journey to becoming successful as an elite athlete.  It has inspired our graduates to focus on how they can add value to our organisation whilst developing their own careers.  This was a key message for our new intake and Lizzy was able to highlight this with real credibility.

What was great about Lizzy too was that she was really interested in meeting the graduates in person and hearing about their journeys to JLR.  She patiently stood through at least 283 selfies!

Many thanks once again!

“Lizzy Yarnold  was absolutely fantastic with our students – whether it was the 6 year olds or the 16 year olds! So many of them got so much of it – they have been talking about it all week.  Lizzy is a true inspiration and we are so grateful to her for giving the time to have an impact on so many young people.”

“Lizzy was a completely  inspirational speaker and a genuinely lovely person. I think she may have another 400 fans!!

It’s fair to say that Lizzy was the best guest and speaker we have ever had! Priceless!”

Fulston Manor School

“Lizzy was really excellent - one of the best speakers we have had.  The pupils really warmed to her natural style and delivery and she was revealing about private moments of doubt and so-called failure. Lizzy was a real success, very approachable and down to earth and happy to have many selfies with the gold medal afterwards!”

 Monkton School

“Quite frankly Lizzy Yarnold  was awesome – absolutely on the money and just the thing to motivate Officer Cadets during what at times is quite a grueling process.”
