“I now have a belief that the greater the challenge the greater you can become…” Henry Fraser

24 year old Henry Fraser from Hertfordshire went to Dulwich College where he was a prominent student, senior prefect with full Colours and a high achieving athlete.

On Holiday in Portugal, aged 17, with friends following the completion of his exams Henry Fraser ran down the beach on a hot beautiful day, which as it turns out, would be for the last time ever! Henry Fraser approached the ocean and experienced that amazing feeling of running into shallow sea. Henry’s head hit the seabed!

Henry Fraser was under the water face down and in trouble, his entire body floating in the sea, lifeless limbs hanging in front of him. The indescribable fear that gripped Henry Fraser Unable to move, breathe or control anything face down in a silent but deadly sea…. Henry’s new life began that day.

“Accept what is, and adapt” Henry Fraser

Henry Fraser  was airlifted to a hospital in Lisbon where underwent 2 operations, being at the peak of his fitness the muscles in his neck were so thick they had to go through the front of his neck. Unable to breathe on his own Henry Fraser had to be ventilated and before leaving the Portuguese Hospital contracted pneumonia and the virus MRSA. A mixture of the illnesses and sheer panic of his situation meant that he nearly never slept as the pain and fear were all too much, it was at this time that he had many dark thoughts.

Back in the UK with the love and never ending support from his family. Battling off MRSA, and septicemia  Henry Fraser strove to move from ITU into the acute ward which meant one step closer to coming home, and a time frame of an 18 month stay in hospital, for Henry Fraser this was a goal for him to beat. Henry only 17 at the time realised there is no point being sad or angry, he has no one to blame for what happened. He may as well just get on with it. And that he did! Normal protocol says someone with zero arm and leg movement should be in a head controlled electric chair, Henry new this was not for him and much to the consultants and physios Henry Fraser has proved them all wrong. Henry Frasers' s determination and incredible strength is amazing in some so young. His story is a story not be missed.

6 Years on and Henry Frasers’s News years blog was titled “This year has been one of the best years of my life”

Henry Fraser is unable to move anything from the top of his shoulders down, he believes Adversity has given him a gift, through being bed bound in January 2015 Henry Fraser taught himself to paint and draw by attaching a brush or pencil to a mouth stick.

In 2015 Henry Fraser appeared on National TV, was commissioned by a national newspaper to produce a piece for the front cover of the rugby World Cup supplement, held an art exhibition and has given his motivational talks at the highest levels and been approached by one of the world’s leading publishers to write a book.

Henry Fraser  is ambassador to UK stem Cells Research, Lecky and a representative for the Matt Hampson Foundation.

"Henry Fraser came and spoke to the England Players and Management before the start of our winter programme and had a huge impact on everyone who was present. His positive outlook on life was something we all took inspiration from and his drive and determination to achieve was a lesson for all of us. His view on teams and acceptance of support are both true and realistic and his insights for someone so young are remarkable. We all left feeling privileged to have been there and better for the experience of spending some time with Henry and his Family"

Clement B Booth - Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Euler Hermes.  World’s leading provider of trade-related credit solutions

"I am writing to endorse the Henry Fraser's inspirational talk he gives on the story of his life, the challenges he has faced and the incredible mindset he adopts to take on life in such a positive way. I have used his speech many times, not only with the England players but also when describing to those from outside the team what real challenges look like and how inspiring people overcome them. The response from showing Henry Frasers 's talk has always been the same, hugely motivational, very inspiring but also very educational in how to deal with challenges. Clearly Henry has taken a long time in articulating his thoughts and delivering them in a meaningful way. I can absolutely recommend Henry to deliver a fantastic message and in doing so also giving Henry himself a real focus of where to put his undoubted energy."

Stuart Lancaster - England Rugby Head Coach.

"Henry Fraser is an extraordinary young man. If you haven't heard him tell his story, please do this as soon as possible. In an often cynical world where values seem in question and foundations of society are under attack, here is the story of a young person who has succeeded despite appalling odds that would daunt most of us. It is a story of courage, hope, fortitude and determination. I've heard him speak more than once and each time come away examining my own life and what I can do to make this a slightly better world. Henry Fraser is an inspiration to me and too many people."

Peter Moores - Former England cricket head coach
