Avril Grant, Inspirational Speaker

Self-Empowerment Performance Coach and passionate Business Woman

Avril Grant - A WOMAN WITH A VISION

Not many young mums would quit their job in the midst of the recession to help people realise their potential and visions or think to enter a prison and work with offenders to try and change the course of their lives, but Avril Grant has done that and with great success.

Avril Grant's robust belief in the potential of all people and in the importance of self belief also has led her to work with school and community groups, the unemployed and even those well along in their careers who want to get greater satisfaction out of their working lives. Sharing her story inspires others to believe in themselves - to be brave and pluck up the courage to turn their dreams into reality. She believes it is vital for individuals to find their passion and pathway and it starts with a vision to succeed.

Born in Birmingham into a Caribbean background in a single parent family, Avril Grant  went through the struggle of a broken community. However, she also had great luck in coming from a family that valued education and learning. She left sixth form to start university while working in accounts, but failed to finish her first year as Avril Grant became a young mum. Even more determined to succeed, she returned to education to gain an accountancy technician qualification and worked for several years in accounts. After no longer finding the work fulfilling and keen to do something that would be more purposeful and meaningful, she set up AVision for Empowerment a social enterprise that is the driving force for inspiring and motivating people towards achieving their career goals.

Avril Grant  is passionate about people and activating their potential. She speaks and inspires people from all walks of life towards positive sustainable change and has 7 years experience in delivering her inspirational workshops and accredited programmes to companies, schools and to the country's hardest to reach audiences in 17 prisons across the UK. She devotes herself to making a difference to people's lives and has helped many people achieve their career goals.

Challenging people to think beyond their limits, to break new grounds and realise their visions, she exploring questions such as, "Why live someone else's dream when we can live our own?" and, "Instead of thinking about what is, why not think about what could be?"

Avril Grant  has a strong belief that everyone can achieve success regardless of their past and that when you believe in yourself there is nothing you cannot achieve.

Through her experience sheer determination and passion, Avril inspires any audience.

If Avril Grant  inspires change to those in prisons towards a better life, she can inspire and change ANYONE.

"Avril Grant is a dynamic and inspiring business woman. Her enthusiasm for improvement and change is boundless. Working with Avril is an unforgettable experience, and leaves you charged up and ready for the next challenge.”

She is a passionate inspirational power house!

Michael Byrne, Business Advisor, Chamber of Commerce

“I have been so pleasantly surprised! It was such so enjoyable and very helpful in achieving our objectives. The session was engaging, interactive and very relevant to my role. I came away with useful ideas on to improve my working style and the way in which I work with my clients”

Karen Waters, National Careers Service

“I was struck by the sense of family amongst the service users. During their time on the course, they had evidently made really strong and supportive relationships with one another. Most impressively Avril made everyone recognise their own worth and potential”

Clare James, Probation Officer, Perry Barr Probation

"The girls have blossomed in confidence in the group and have been much more receptive in school lessons. They have developed a good rapport with their teacher. has had a very positive impact on those students lives and shown them self-belief and how to develop positive relationships. As a school we have benefited highly as we have seen young women helped and guided positively in their personal development. The programme has allowed space for students who felt vulnerable to be understood and stretched emotionally to accept positive reinforcement about themselves and their potential. I would be very keen for this to be repeated at King’s with another cohort of students. The personal development of young people and developing a positive mind set is critical to success and this is what Avril Grant provides."

Mrs Fearnehough, Pastoral Leader, The King's CE School

“Listening to Avril’s talks and attending her workshops was one of the most empowering times of my life. It was very inspirational and has helped me establish my goals, values & generally solidify my life's direction. I appreciate the opportunity I got to be there!”

Ex offender from HMP Hewell

“After completing your course and since have returned home and am now participating in what one calls a normal life...lol! Taking your course  has changed the way i now look at my life and how i make the decisions within, id like to thank you for the firstly doing what you do and secondly (again) for the changes in me that have manifested through what you do....Anyway since HMP Hewell i have walked into many obstacles on my path but I'm still doing ok, I'm on the way to opening one of two business ventures which should be open in the next four month so that should be good. Again thank you so much!”

Jamal Henry, Ex-offender from HMP Hewell

“Before the talk as selfish as it sounds, I didn't care if I lived or died. Whether it be in school, prison or probation but the advice I was given always seemed to be missing something which I feel is genuine practical motivation from the advisor. The reason the course worked for me is because its realistic and not just idealistic”

Reu’ll Jones, Ex-offender and founder of “I am Icon”
