In 2008, he took part in Strictly Come Dancing and made it to the quarter-finals, with dance partner Erin Boag.
The 35 year-old enjoys a fairly unique perspective on the game having played regularly at almost every position in the backs for either club or country.
Austin writes a regular column for the Daily Mirror during internationals, giving his views on England's performances. His thoughtful insight into the game of rugby combined with his willingness to express his opinions honestly and openly have made Austin a favourite with the rugby media. Austin has just finished working for O2 on their campaign for the Rugby World Cup. He was chosen because of his reputation amongst the fans and his ability to engage with them through a number of platforms. As you can see by watching some of the footage that O2 created for their website. Follow this link and watch. Austin also in conjunction with O2 was involved with a panel created by Times Online for the Rugby World Cup where he joined the likes of Jenni Rutherford and comedian Dominic Holland to discuss England’s performances.
